Home-made, healthy lemonade is super easy to make and rich in vitamin C and potassium.
While lemons are acidic before digestion, they become highly alkalising once digested. So they can help to restore acid-alkaline balance in the body when teamed with a healthy diet.
The pectin and oils from lemon skin provide antioxidants, chelate toxins from the bowel and stimulate liver detoxification enzymes (cytochrome P450). So feel free to add some lemon zest as garnish (use an organic lemon if zesting the skin).
Note if you have eczema: lemons are not in Stage 1 of The Eczema Diet, but try them as your skin improves.
